Pediatric occupational therapy helps children gain independence while also strengthening the development of fine motor skills, sensory motor skills, and visual motor skills that children need to function and socialize.
Helping your kids reach their potential and gain independence.
We specialize in pediatric occupational therapy.
A child’s role in life is to play and interact with other children. We evaluate a child’s current skills for playing, school performance, and daily activities and compare them with what is developmentally appropriate for that age group. OT’s help children perform daily activities they may find challenging by addressing sensory, social, behavioral, motor, and environmental issues.
We also utilize the most current evaluation tools and clinical standards in determining the appropriate treatment for each child. We start by communicating directly with parents/guardians to determine the family’s goals and priorities. Then, through individualized evaluations, we find solutions to help maximize independence and increase participation in daily activities, including self-care, learning and play.
I think my child could benefit from occupational therapy. How do I get started?
If there are concerns regarding a child’s skills or development, contact Developmental Therapy Services to speak with the therapist to discuss specifics related to this and to access the first step – evaluation.
Upon completion of the initial evaluation, a written report interpreting findings and any recommendations is provided for the family, along with a separate conference time for explanation and discussion. Treatment is scheduled as appropriate.
Developmental Therapy Services is the place to help each child get set for success.
Throughout treatment, our occupational therapists assist children to engage in their occupation of playing and learning, building the skills and confidence to thrive in their environments.
